The Council holds its Annual Meeting earlier in the year, for the purpose of bringing our members together to network, learn and conduct the business of the Council. Our members also participate in this 2-day event to engage in educational tours and share program ideas. A panel of speakers is also part of the program to educate members on various topics affecting co-ops.
2017's Annual Meeting was a great opportunity to network, connect and promote! After having to move the meeting at the last minute due to the fire downtown Raleigh, the NC Electric Cooperatives Statewide office hosted us for two great days! The first day was a great board meeting along with our welcome session by Amanda Perry of Wilkes Communications. After that, Dr. Troy Hall of SC Federal Credit Union inspired the group to think collectively and work towards the ‘Power of One’! To close out the day, we heard from Cooperative leaders from different generations and learned about the Watson Computer at the CIMS at NC State. His presentation is here!
Our second day we started at the General Assembly Cafeteria and told a few stories about how our cooperatives make a difference in the communities we serve. We are more than just businesses but we are organizations that care and create positive change where we work. After breakfast, we went back to the NC Electric Cooperatives to the Annual Meeting followed by a refreshing yoga session. Next we completed a cooperative workshop to gain understanding of the different cooperative sectors and how we can partner together. Lastly, we heard from Tom Campbell of NC Spin and his take on our political environment. All in all, our two days were fantastic getting to know our members!
